Diversification of Nigeria Economy towards Non-Oil is an existential imperative – Awolowo

The Executive Secretary, National Action Committee on the AfCFTA, Mr. Olusegun Awolowo has lent his voice to the call for Nigeria to take proactive steps to wean Nigeria economy from total dependence on oil.

Mr Awolowo spoke yesterday at the Zenith Bank International Trade Seminar to discuss the ‘Nigerian Non-Oil Export Industry: the Present, the Future’. Stakeholders from the public and private sectors in Nigeria and other countries in the African continent were participants at the seminar

The Secretary who in his goodwill message highlighted the importance of diversifying the Nigerian economy towards ‘Non-Oil Exports’, laying emphasis on the need for an ‘export led industrial revolution’ in Nigeria, the critical part that the private sector will play, the plethora of opportunities that the AfCFTA agreement will bring on board in achieving this, and the importance of the ‘largest free trade agreement in the world’ in Nigeria’s economic future.

The event also provided the Executive Secretary the opportunity to meet with and discuss the beneficial implementation of the AfCFTA agreement in Nigeria with critical stakeholders and key players.
