FG Distributes 4200 Bags Of Grains In Bauchi

The Federal Government has distributed 4,200 bags of food products to the less privileged in Bauchi state, saying that it was part of its efforts to reduce the suffering of Nigerians.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Mariam Katagum, stated this at the distribution of the relief items to beneficiaries at a brief ceremony held at the Next Level Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State.

She reiterated the commitment of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to ensure that Nigerians live a better life.

Katagum, who was represented by her Special Assistant, Ahmed Bashar, said the 4,200 items are made up of 1,200 bags of Sorghum, 1,200 bags of Maize, 1,200 bags of Garri and 600 bags of Millet.

She said, “It gives me great pleasure to be here with you today at the Secretariat of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bauchi, for yet another milestone and a historic moment to handover assorted food products for onward distribution to the vulnerable populace in the state.

“This gesture is part of Mr. President’s desire to bring millions of Nigerians out of poverty, as well as, to cushion some of the economic hardship in our society.

“The bottom line of this is to ensure that these items or commodities were shared to the appropriate beneficiaries. I, therefore, urge you to be fair and apply justice in your sharing formula.”

The Minister commended the leadership of the APC in Bauchi State, for making the event not only a reality but also, a success adding that ‘I hope this will go a long way in alleviating hardship amongst our people, especially, the less privileged.”

Responding, the State Chairman of the APC, Babayo Misau, expressed gratitude to the Minister for her gesture and assured that the items would be shared across the 20 local government areas of the state so that the less privileged can benefit.

Misau who was represented by the State Secretary, Mustapha Zirami, said: “We want to thank Ambassador Mariam Katagum for the heart she has for the less privileged in Bauchi State. These things were given to her, she could have done something else with them but she sent them to her people in Bauchi who need them.

“We will not share these items to APC members only, but we will share them to all those who are in need and who deserve them.”
