DSS Invites Fani-Kayode Over Coup Comment

The former Minister of Aviation and spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential campaign council, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been invited by the Department of State Services, DSS, in Abuja.

Femi Fani-Kayode was invited over a coup plot alar he raised last week concerning a purported meeting between the Peoples Democratic Party, Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and generals of the Nigerian Army.

The invitation by the DSS, was confirmed by Fani-Kayode in a statement on Monday, explaining that he would be honouring the invitation this morning, Monday.

The former Minister of Aviation ran into trouble with the security agencies when he claimed that the PDP, presidential candidate and top military generals had a secret meeting in Abuja last week.

According to Fani-Kayode, the meeting may be part of an agenda to provoke a coup d’etat and establish a new and unconstitutional order in the country.

However, the Nigerian military on Saturday, denied allegations  in the media that some military officers met with the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, with the aim of disrupting the general elections and setting the country on fire.

The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a statement on Saturday described the allegations as “wicked and very malicious propaganda”.

Gusau stated that there was no truth in the so-called Thursday meeting purportedly aimed at prodding the senior military officers to plot a coup d’etat to establish unconstitutional order.
