NADDC Boss Urges Spanish Investors To Invest In Nigeria’s Automotive Industry

The Director-General, Nigeria Automotive Design and Development Council, Mr. Jelani Aliyu, participated as a Panelist Speaker at the Nigerian-Spanish Business and Trade Forum in Madrid Spain.

President Muhammadu Buhari delivered the key note address at the forum where he extended fiscal investment incentives to Spanish investors to ramp up a long-term business partnership between the two countries.

This was as the President said, increased collaboration with African nations kike Nigeria could be what all of Europe needs to mitigate against both current and potential future supply-chain challenges.

Aliyu discussed the huge opportunity in the Nigerian automotive space, calling for Spanish companies and groups to invest in the production of vehicles in Nigeria, both for the local market and for exports to other African countries, leveraging on the AfCFTA, Africa Continental Free Trade Area.

He also highlighted the opportunity in the local production of automotive components that can be shipped to Spanish and other European Automotive assembly plants.

“Nigeria is ready for innovation and advanced automotive solutions, products and services,” he said.

Aliyu reiterated that Spanish companies could really add significant value to the Automotive space in Nigeria.

He said, “We are looking forward to further in-depth discussions with interested companies and how they can come in to be part of this incredible journey that we have started in Nigeria, especially in Vehicle Electrification”.
