NIGERIA SIGNS BILATERAL AGREEMENT WITH QATAR ON DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES 

The Hon. Minister of State, budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba, has signed a bilateral cooperation agreement on behalf of the Nigerian government with a Qatar charity organisation, an international Non- governmental (NGO) for carrying out humanitarian, technical and other developmental activities. 
 Signing the cooperation agreement, he said that the based organisation will carry out its activities under the supervision of the Embassy of Qatar in Nigeria.
The  Minister expressed his gratitude towards the government of Qatar for the step being taken to advance  bilateral ties between the two countries through economic growth and development particularly, the interventions undertaken by the non- governmental organization.
Agba listed areas of  intervention by the NGO to include, construction of social housing and multiple purpose complex for the orphans/ less privileged in wasa and Dakwa, FCT communities and victims of insurgencies in sokoto state also the drilling of 900 units of boreholes across the North east, North West and South West.
He said” l am glad that these interventions are in tandem with National development plan (NDP) 2021-2025 which was developed to succeed the economic recovery and growth plan (ERGP) 2017-2020 that elapsed in December 2020. This will promote economic and socio-cultural development of the citizens in the area of educational development, economic empowerment, shelter for orphans and water  sanitation “.
Speaking earlier, the chairman/CEO of Qatar charity organisation, Yousif Ahmed Al-kawari, acknowledged the cordial relationship between Nigeria and  the government of Qatar while commending the Minister for his commitment in that regard.
