Nig @ 60 Expo: We ‘Ve Put In Place Policies To Grow Businesses

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said the present administration had put in place various laudable programnes and policies that would enhance the development of small scale businesses in the country.

He spoke at the end of a five day exhibition of made in Nigeria products and services to mark Nigeria @ 60 Independence Anniversary in Abuja.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed therefore advised Nigerian manufacturers to take advantage of the Federal Government’s SME’s financing programnes in boosting their production.

In a presentation entitled “Women in Economic Development, Commerce and Industry, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Mariam Yalwaji Katagum said the present administration was committed towards empowering Nigerian women entrepreneurs through intervention programnes and grants to enable them contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.

Ambassador Mariam Katagum said her Ministry had already initiated various programnes to sustain the activities of small scale businesses due to the impact of COVID 19 pandemic.

The Minister who described women as the nation’s builder advised them to develop keen interest in contributing their quota to national economic development.

Other speakers at the closing ceremony emphasized the need for patronage of Made In Nigeria goods and services towards national economic recovery and growth.

Nigerian manufacturers have commended the Federal Government for its policies and programnes aimed at promoting the growth of local industries in the country.

Some of the manufacturers, Mr Abdullahi Muhammed and Ngozi Okafor who are into local production of fabrics and cosmetics described the exhibition as a welcomed development towards boosting and revamping the nation’s ailing industries.

They therefore called for more programmes that would assist the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises, SME’s to further stimulate national economic development.
