Akeredolu Orders Manhunt Of Perpetrators Of Owo Church Attack

Following the unfortunate attack on the people of Owo worshipping at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, on Sunday, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has returned to Ondo State from his party’s national assignment in Abuja.

Governor Akeredolu, who moved straight to Owo from the Akure Airport had received briefings from the Heads of Security agencies in the state, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Richard Olatunde.

The Governor had earlier vowed to hunt down the assailants and make them pay.

Meanwhile, sundry accounts about the Owo tragedy have indicated that it was actually an explosive device that was used on the Church.

The attackers, were said to have come as worshippers and embedded themselves in the congregation.

They reportedly kidnapped a Reverend Father either before or after they activated the explosives.

The two Police Division in Owo town and Area Command according to report, had no official patrol van to get to the scene of the crime.

They reportedly had almost 50 men standing by at the ACPOL, Owo, but there was no means of mobility.

Information had it that the criminals did not come with vehicles, but that they hijacked vehicle on the road to convey their victim (the Reverend Father they took away with them)

The owner of the hijacked vehicle, as learnt, had gone to Owo A. Division to report.

Report also confirmed that Owo township roads had been deserted as people had stayed off.

Police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the attack.
