The UAE Government and Dubai Tourism have eased travel restrictions for travellers from different countries ahead of the Africa Oil Week.

The 2021 edition which will be held in Dubai will play host to 45 ministers and government leaders representing 66 per cent of African governments.

The AOW announced this in a statement on Wednesday

“This is good news for the many delegates planning to attend Africa Oil Week (AOW) in Dubai in November 2021,” said the organisers in the statement.

The executive of Africa’s major oil and gas players, including: TotalEnergies, Eni, Equinor, Tullow Oil, Perenco, Panoro and Seplat, would be in attendance.

The Dubai authorities said travellers from most countries would present the results of a negative test taken not more than 72 hours before departure.

But the procedure is different for travellers arriving from Nigeria, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia.

Travellers from the ten countries listed by Dubai authorities are expected to present a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate with a QR code issued within 48 hours of the time the sample was collected from an approved health facility.

They will also be required to take a final test on arrival at Dubai.

Chris Hall, AOW’s Group Event Director said, “We welcome the easing of restrictions. They indicate that Dubai is once again open for business and reassure us of our decision to temporarily relocate AOW to Dubai.

“While we look forward to returning to Cape Town in 2022, we believe that this move is in the best interests of our delegates and will help us to run the only safe, in-person energy event for Africa this year.”

The Dubai authorities said it would continue to implement the highest standards of hygiene and COVID-19 precautionary measures across the city.

Issam Kazim, the CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing said, “Since the start of the pandemic, a robust strategy has been implemented with the key priority being to safeguard the health and well-being of our residents and guests.

“We continue to implement the highest standards of hygiene and COVID-19 precautionary measures across the city, with inspectors carrying out venue checks at those establishments awarded the ‘Dubai Assured’ stamp, every two weeks, to ensure ongoing compliance.

“These efforts, along with the progress being made with the rollout of the country-wide vaccine programme, are key to managing the virus and providing peace of mind for residents and visitors..”
