Kaduna, Edo lead Nigeria “smart city” tour to Taiwan

The governments of Kaduna and Edo were at the Smart City Expo in Taiwan in hopes of generating business opportunities to improve the lives of Nigerian urban citizens.

The visit aims to explore “smart city” technologies and solutions that can benefit Nigerian communities and make their lives better.

The 2023 Smart City Summit and Expo (SCSE) in Taiwan was held at Nan Kang Exhibition Hall II from 28th to 31st March, 2023.

The Nigeria Trade Office in Taiwan (NTO) invited both Government officials and private sectors to participate at the Expo.

Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki, led a 40-member delegation to the expo.

The delegation included

  • Khalil Nur Khalil, Executive Secretary of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency,
  • Temitope Akintunde, Director of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)  
  • Collins Nwosu, Trade Ambassador of International Trade Facilitation Association (ITFA).

SCSE has been offering marketing opportunities for the applications from home and abroad for the past nine years.

SCSE is Asia’s largest hybrid smart city tradeshow featuring IoT solutions.

SCSE is not only a B2B platform for businesses but one of largest G2G and G2B network.

It continues to serve online and offline with co-located events for industries such as smart healthcare, transportation, building sustainability, and startup communities.

The Nigerian delegations and visitors were able to explore the latest and greatest in technology and ideas by attending the SCSE.

This exceptional show brought together innovators and thought leaders from around the world, making it the perfect place to discover the most cutting-edge solutions and connect with potential clients and partners via G2G, G2B, and B2B networks.

In addition to exploring the marketplace in Asia and beyond, Nigeria would also have the opportunity to gain insights from professionals across nations and industries, giving Nigeria a unique perspective on the future of smart cities and the technologies.

Smart city techs and solutions

The Executive Governor of Edo State made a presentation during the Mayor Summit.

He emphasized the importance of the smart City and the efforts his administration are making towards making life smarter in Edo state.

The Executive Secretary of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency also made a presentation at the Smart City Expo’s Round Table discussion on some of the activities of the Kaduna state.

He urged participants especially the Taiwanese investors to consider investing in Nigeria and in Kaduna State

Collaboration between Nigeria and Taiwan aim to access new markets, promote economic ties between the two countries, and reinforce bilateral cooperation.

With the advancement of technology from Taiwan, Nigerian would grow sustainably and provide an opportunity for Taiwan and Nigeria business and the economy to flourish.

Ibrahim A. Ahmed, Trade Commissioner of the Nigeria Trade Office, said he was confident that participating in the Smart City Summit & Expo will bring significant benefits to Nigeria.

By adopting Smart city technologies, Nigeria can create a more efficient transportation system, increase public safety, and enhance the quality of life for Nigeria citizens, he said.
