Farmz2U, OneKiosk, 4 Other Nigerian Startups Shortlisted for AfDB’s US$120,000 AgriPitch Prize

The African Development Bank AfDB) have announced twenty-five finalists for this year’s AYAF AgriPitch Competition with six Nigerian youth-led technology solution driven companies making the list.

According to the AfDB’s report, Nigeria’s Farmspeak Technology, One Kiosk, Releaf and seven other African agric companies were selected in the Start-ups category.

Over 2,500 agripreneurs registered their interest in the competition, with more than 600 submitting applications. Out of this strong field, 25 have been shortlisted across three categories: Start-ups, Mature Start-ups and Women Empowered Businesses.

Youth leaders of these 25 businesses will take part in a series of training sessions before participating in a virtual AgriPitch Competition on 16-17 November 2020. The African Development Bank will award winning businesses in grants between US$10,000 and US$40,000 in the form of grant capital (a total of US$120,000 has been committed).

The goal of the AYAF AgriPitch Competition is to raise funds to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture among youths in Africa, and to generate jobs, create wealth and improve livelihoods through inclusive growth across the continent.

The African Development Bank is a leading multilateral development finance institution. The Bank has 81 member countries and is headquartered in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
