AfCFTA Is Strategic to Nigeria’s Trade and Investment Wellbeing – Olusegun Awolowo

The Executive Secretary of the National Action Committee, Mr. Olusegun Awolowo recently met with the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, for a briefing on the groundbreaking efforts of the National Action Committee on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) towards the implementation of the AfCFTA agreement in Nigeria.

In the meeting, the Executive Secretary delved into the transformative potential of the AfCFTA agreement for Nigeria’s trade and investment landscape while reiterating the Committee’s commitment to driving forward our nation’s participation in this historic trade agreement.

With the AfCFTA opening up immense opportunities to increase intra-African trade and economic integration, he also highlighted that it is crucial that Nigeria positions itself strategically to maximize the benefits, and this would be achieved through collaboration, innovation, and proactive policies, as these would unleash the full potential of Nigerian businesses and entrepreneurs on the continental stage.

Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary and Senior Directors from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the DG of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations, Secretariat team of the National Action Committee on the AfCFTA.
