NIRSAL MD Wins Award For Agric Innovation

United Kingdom based Chief Executive Officer ranking magazine, has named Aliyu Abdulhameed, Managing Director of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) as winner of the CEO Today Magazine Global Award 2021.

CEO Today collates votes and carries out sector by sector research to select the best among the world’s CEOs.

This year’s winners were selected from academia, tech, e-commerce, public administration and more from several countries including the UAE, Germany, USA, Sweden, Bulgaria and China.

The firm said the 2021 award was in recognition of CEOs who have disrupted the industry’s status quo and taken their company to new heights of innovation and growth.

CEO Today in its publication quoted Abdulhameed as stating, “Nurturing and managing the remarkable talents of young Nigerians that help to execute my strategy for NIRSAL Plc as the MD and CEO, over the last five years, has been an extremely rewarding experience for me.”

In a statement sent to THE WHISTLER, NIRSAL said the award was accelerated by the facilitation of over $550m to various actors across Agricultural Value Chains by the MD.

NIRSAL said, “Mr. Abdulhameed has acknowledged that the award, which came as a surprise, would serve as a motivation in his quest to bring about even more positive change in Agriculture in Nigeria through his position as MD/CEO of NIRSAL Plc.”

The lender named some of the innovations that have been introduced to the Nigerian Agricultural sector as a result of Abdulhameed’s leadership to include the creation of the NIRSAL Agro Geo-Cooperative.

Past winners include real estate mogul, Dr. Anas Hasan Al-Mulla, Yuichi Ishizuka and Nick Lazaridis of Canon and EMEA/HP respectively.
