Sanusi Bilikisu – The Commerce Africa https://thecommerceafrica.com African Reneissance Tue, 02 Feb 2021 11:30:10 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.9 DG Budget Office Distances Self from Allegation of Corruption https://thecommerceafrica.com/dg-budget-office-distances-self-from-allegation-of-corruption/ https://thecommerceafrica.com/dg-budget-office-distances-self-from-allegation-of-corruption/#respond Tue, 02 Feb 2021 11:30:08 +0000 http://thecommerceafrica.com/?p=3203 The Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation has denied the allegation of inaction against corruption as petitioned to him by Sanusi Bilikisu, a level 14 officer in the Expenditure Department of the Office.
Investigations carried out by ThisDay Newspaper reported that Mr. Akabueze and a number of senior civil servants were already facing a Head of Service investigation panel on the allegation.
Debunking the report, the Public Relations Officer of Budget Office, Afolabi Olajuwon, in a statement on Tuesday said the DG has always investigated the petitions made by Bilikisu against her supervisor, adding “she might have a personal vendetta against the Director-General and the organization.”
The statement read further:
“The attention of the Budget Office of the Federation has been drawn to a malicious publication being circulated by ThisDay Newspaper of Monday, February 1, 2021, a print medium in Nigeria, alleging that the Director-General of Budget Office of the Federation has over the years treated reports of corruption in the Budget Office by the said petitioner Sanusi Bilikisu, a level 14 officer in the Expenditure Department of the Budget Office with inactions.
“Reacting to this, the Budget Office PRO stated the Director-General of Budget Office of the Federation had always investigated the claims made by the petitioner against her supervisor.
At the end, it was discovered that the petitioner’s grouse was that her supervisor had reassigned some of the agencies under her schedule. Incidentally, she sent the same petition to the ICPC, which also investigated it and found no merit in it.
“The petitioner lacks facts to back up her allegations, which has been proven beyond reasonable doubt. It is noteworthy that her allegation against the DG is that he did not act on her petition, not any corrupt act on his part. She might have a personal vendetta against the Director-General and the organization.
“While calling on the general public to disregard the publication as it is not only misleading but the handiwork of mischief makers, Budget Office has challenged ThisDay to research the facts before rushing to press with any falsehood peddled to it.”
