


The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it is already developing a framework to deal with directors and officers of companies that have been delisted.
The Registrar-General/CEO of the Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, revealed this today at the In-House Enforcement and Compliance Training for State Offices held today in Abuja at the auditorium of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Tagged “RE-ENGINEERING THE COMMISSION FOR EFFECTIVE DISCHARGE OF COMPLIANCE AND ENFORCEMENT MANDATES TO ENSURE EFFICIENT
MANAGEMENT OF CORPORATE VEHICLES” , the training drew participants from 36 states of the Federation.
The Registrar-General, who described post-incorporation enforcement as a sustainability strategy revealed that the plan will be unveiled during the training.
He underscored the importance of state offices in the exercise and added that the training was designed to usher the Commission into hyper post-incorporation mode.
Magaji, who highlighted some milestone achievements recorded by the Commission since his assumption of office, said the rigorous enforcement drive started with the enforcement of the requirements of section 863 (1) of CAMA, 2020.
Hussaini Ishaq Magaji therefore said the training would deal with the methodology of handling unregistered businesses that include unregistered PoS operators.
Other areas of focus are strategic
implementation of legal and regulatory frameworks for dealing with brief case or shell companies and opaque ownership structures through nominees or trustees
companies, he added.
The CAC Boss said global standards for proper disclosure of persons with significant control in line with the requirements of Persons with Significant Control Regulations will also be featured.
During the event, Harami Madi Wakirwa, Deputy Commander of Narcotics, presented a goodwill message from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while Usman Ahmed Imam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, delivered a goodwill message from the National Cybercrime and Control Centre of the Nigeria Police.
The CAC Enforcement Officers Training which will be conducted in two batches is expected to wind up on Saturday, 25th January, 2025.
