In a significant move to bolster Nigeria’s industrial and economic growth, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), Bamanga Usman Jada, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Douye Diri, at the Government House in Yenagoa on November 3, 2024. The discussions were focused on advancing the development of the Brass Oil and Gas Free Zone, particularly the Brass Fertilizer and Petroleum Company Limited (BFPCL) project.
During the visit, Jada highlighted OGFZA’s recent approval for Brass Fertilizer to establish a transformative $3.6 billion industrial park and methanol production hub. Describing the project as a milestone for Nigeria’s industrial sector, he emphasized its potential to significantly enhance the nation’s industrial output. The development is anticipated to create numerous employment opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, and contribute to the nation’s economic advancement.
Jada detailed the project’s impressive infrastructure, which will include a dedicated gas processing facility capable of producing 340 million standard cubic feet daily, a 36-kilometer pipeline, a state-of-the-art methanol plant, an SBA export jetty, a construction jetty, and a residential area for workers and residents. He underscored OGFZA’s commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment in Nigeria’s oil and gas free zones, reiterating the Authority’s role in attracting both domestic and international investors to the sector.
The OGFZA leader affirmed that these efforts align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth and development. By advancing projects such as the Brass industrial park, the government aims to position Nigeria as a competitive player in the global energy and industrial markets.
Governor Douye Diri expressed strong support for the project, assuring the OGFZA delegation of his commitment to providing all necessary backing to ensure the Brass Oil and Gas Free Zone thrives. He emphasized Bayelsa State’s willingness to collaborate closely with OGFZA to drive sustainable growth and development within the state, positioning Bayelsa as a key contributor to Nigeria’s economic ambitions.
