Nigeria Shelves Plan to Hold WASSCE in August

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu (picture), has foreclosed the commencement of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) earlier announced to hold from August 4 to September 5, 2020.

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, had on Monday announced the dates for the examination at the daily briefing Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

Rising today from this week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Adamu said there is no date for school resumption yet.

With this development, final year secondary school students in Nigeria may not participate in the forthcoming West African Examination Council(WAEC) examinations.
