New Company Act Simplifies Business Registration, Says CAC

The Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, Garba Abubakar, has said that the requirements for registration of companies have been further simplified, following the passing of the Company and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, 2020.

Mr Abubakar stated this while receiving the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Poland in Nigeria, Joanna Tarnawska in Company of the Embassy’s First Secretary Economic Affairs, Joanna Poplawska-Lilumbi on a courtesy visit to the Commission. According to him, the Act will also attract Foreign Direct Investment, FDI, into the country.

Mr Abubakar noted that full digitisation of company registration process was the way forward, stressing that the commission was working to ensure that post incorporation module was deployed and e-certification begins before the end of 2020.

He therefore solicited the support and cooperation of all stakeholders and Nigerians to achieve the set target. The registrar-general assured of the Commission’s support to the Polish Embassy to ensure effective discharge of its responsibilities.

Speaking earlier, the Poland Ambassador, Mrs. Tarnawska said the visit was to explore collaboration with the CAC for the benefit of Polish investors in Nigeria.

According to her, collaborating with the CAC will guard against falling victims to activities of fraudsters.

Mrs Tarnawska said most Nigerians living in Poland were adorable, peaceful and successful entrepreneurs.

She used the forum to present a book to the Commission, a book about Poland.
