FG Lauds Achievements of Nigerians in Diaspora




The Federal Government has lauded the immense contributions of Nigerians in Diaspora in the economic and technological advancements of their countries of residence.


According to Segun Imohiosen, Director,Press and Public Relations in office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON gave the commendation while receiving a powerful delegation from AFRiDU-Advance Team from the United States, Canada and the Caribbean in Preparation for the Homecoming Event by African Descendants in Diaspora Union (AfriDU) led by its President, Professor Arch-bishop Chidiebere Anelechi Ogbu who paid him a courtesy visit in his Office.


He assured that the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) will partner with AfriDU to come up with a policy framework that would facilitate the reintegration of Africans of Nigeria’s descent back to their ancestral land. He urged them to bring their wealth of experiences to bear in nation-building.


Speaking earlier, the President of  African Diaspora Union (AfriDU) Professor Arch-bishop Chidiebere Ogbu said that the delegation which comprises Nigerians from South America, USA and Canada are poised to pool their resources together to invest in Nigeria if the Federal Government would offer them sense of belonging and to be granted the citizenship of Nigeria.


He said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has approved the hosting of a historical gathering and Homecoming Event by African Descendants in Diaspora Union (AfriDU) AU 6th Region in partnership with NiDCOM slated to hold in October in Abuja. He added that the homecoming event would attract over 2,000 African descendants.


The African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU) is a civil society organization acting as the umbrella body of all African Diaspora Organizations with a view to integrating Africans into the African Nations where they reside in with the spirit of brotherhood (Ubuntu).
