DISCOS Remit N26.81bn to NBET in June

The Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc has revealed that Market Receipts remitted by Distribution Companies amounted to N26.81bn in June.

NBET also disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday that the top three remitters are Eko DISCO, Abuja DISCO, and Portharcout DISCO with 93.4 per cent, 86.6 per cent and 76.4 per cent respectively.

The statement reads in part, “The June 2021 Market Receipts from DISCOS is N26.811 Billion, with the three top remitters as Eko DISCO, Abuja DISCO, and Portharcout DISCO with 93.4%, 86.6% and 76.4% respectively.”

Speaking on the development, the Head of Corporate Communications, NBET Henrietta Ighomrore confirmed that the June 2021 Market Payment has been disbursed to the GENCOS in proportion to their invoice.

She further stated that NBET is committed to ensuring timely and efficient payment to GENCOS to enable the generators fulfil their obligations and maintain sustainable supply of electricity to the grid.

According to her, NBET is engaging with all stakeholders in the value chain to ensure payment improvement and viability of the Nigerian electricity market.

NBET is the administrator of the national power pool and the financial flow in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
The company was established to ensure efficient transactions in the Nigerian Power Sector, and support its growth and viability.
