The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has said that two new forms of business registrations provided by the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020 will be available for Nigerians by the end of August,2021.

The Registrar-General of the CAC, Alhaji Garba Abubakar revealed this on Friday while declaring open a Stakeholders forum in Port Harcourt.

Abubakar said the new forms of Business Registrations- Limited Partnership (LP) and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) were becoming increasingly desirable across various jurisdictions around the globe.

Abubakar also revealed that the Commission was making arrangements to next year deploy a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to interact with Customers and resolve their challenges 24 hours a day.

The Registrar-General who also used the forum to highlight the Commision’s ongoing reforms, stated that filing of Statement of Affairs and Biannual Statements were now conducted seamlessly on the Companies Registration Portal.

He maintained that all but two forms of Post Incorporation filings were now available online 24 hours a day on the Company Registration Portal.

The CAC Boss also stressed that the Commission no longer entertain filing of share transfer as it was alien to the law and added that information on Person with significant control (PSC) was available free of charge on the CAC website inline with global Anti Money Laundering requirement.

Addressing some customers concerns on the Commission’s denial of certain names for registration, the Registrar-General maintained that while some of such rejected names had security implications, others were deceptive or abstract.

He, therefore, advised Customers to always approach the Commission with fully qualified names that equally agree with objects of the association or organization applying for registration.

He acknowledged the challenges of some customers while interacting with the CRP, and urged users to always read guidelines for registration made available on the website in addition to leveraging on the multimedia provided to aid user ability.

He reiterated the Commision’s resolve to continually improve its processes and ensure timely resolution of Customer complaints.

In a related development, Abubakar allayed fears that some Staff may lose their jobs as the Registry continues to digitize its operations.

He stressed that now that technology was fast taking over the hitherto manual processes in the Commision, there was urgent need for the staff to make themselves relevant to the system.

The Registrar-General further stated that in view of the ongoing reforms, there was need for non-compliant Staff to embrace technology to enable the Commission re-assign schedules to those that may require onboarding.

Abubakar therefore said the Commission was committed to ensuring continued training and retraining of its workforce to realize its objectives.
