
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulation Commission(NUPRC) are to strengthen their collaboration in the area of integration on Beneficial Ownership Register, registration of host communities forum and seamless working relationship.
This declaration was made today during a familiarization visit to the CAC by a team from the NUPRC led by Mrs Olayemi Anyanechi, Commission Secretary & Legal Adviser.
The NUPRC team leader underscored the contribution of CAC to the country’s economy which according to her is rooted in regulation and compliance with registration of entities.
She noted that the visit was aimed at collaborating with the Commission in the area of mutual interest among others.
Responding, the Registrar-General/CEO of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, thanked the NUPRC team for the visit and expressed his support for the proposed collaboration between the Commission and NUPRC and promised to ensure that all registered entities comply strictly with the regulations of CAMA 2020 with regards to their statutory obligations.
The Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission was established in 2021 by the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) with the statutory responsibility of ensuring compliance to petroleum laws, regulations and guidelines in the upstream Oil and Gas Sector.
The discharge of these responsibilities involves monitoring of operations at drilling sites , production platforms and flow stations, crude oil export terminals and pipelines carrying crude oil, gas among others.
On the request to re-establish communication links with the two agencies, the CAC Boss requested the delegation to nominate members from their organization to interface with the Commission’s representatives in order to enhance communication and seamless working relationship.
Included in the NUPRC team were: Mr Augustine Okwah (Manager Legal), Queen Torkwasi, (Manager, Legal), while the CAC team was made up of Mr. Teerver Ayua Jor (SA to the RG), Sadiq Mohammed Ali (Chief of Staff the RG), Sani Lere (Head, Protocol), Dorothy Eze Okonkwo, (PA to the RG on Media), Moses Enamhe Ushie (PM Media/Publicity) and Mustapha Wambai (SM Protocol) among others.
